The Vancouver Biennale is a bi-annual art exhibition that brings sculptures, new media and performance works by celebrated and emerging international artists to Vancouver area public parks, beaches and urban plazas, transforming the city into an open-air museum.
The City of Richmond is participating in the 2009-2011 Biennale and will temporarily showcase works by renowned artists from around the world. Three of these pieces are on display in time for the Winter Festival of the Arts: Olas de Viento (Wind Waves) by Yvonne Domenge (Mexico), Miss Mao Trying to Poise Herself at the Top of Lenin’s Head by The Gao Brothers (China) and Water #10 by Jen Run (China.)
